Here at Bago we have a long standing history of hard work and supporting local produce and people. Jim and Kay Mobbs together with their children Ian, Kellie and Steve along with excellent staff make Bago what it is today.
In 1985 Jim and Kay Mobbs planted the first Chardonnay vines on the alluvial flats of their extensive property in the Hastings River Region on the Mid North Coast of New South Wales. Thus Bago Vineyards was born.
Bago is a working family farm with a vineyard and winery, pastures, crops and beef cattle and is very much invested into developing its green space for the future. Bago Maze is the first and central element of the planned Bago Gardens, which will be developing and growing over the next few years.

Ian Mobbs
Ian is Bago’s landscape Architect and eldest Mobbs son. He studied Landscape Architecture at Canberra University and worked in Canberra for over 15 years before returning to the farm to focus on growing Bago into his dream garden. He is passionate about our farm and all things green. Ian is the master mind behind Bago Maze, the seasonal field mazes and the growing garden extensions around Bago.
Kellie Bower (Mobbs)
Kellie is Bago’s Brand Manager. She studied Fashion and Textile Design at University of Technology Sydney and has been working as a textile and surface designer for the past 15 years. Kellie loves anything to do with colour and nature and has designed all of our Bago wine labels into inspiring artworks featuring flora and fauna of Bago.
Steven Mobbs
Steve is a dynamic wine maker based in Orange. He studied Wine Making at Charles Sturt University. He pursued his ambition to create wines that are expressive and unique, travelling around the world to hone his craft. He now runs his own boutique wine label ChaLou with his wife Nadja Wallington. chalouwines.com.au
Kay and James Mobbs
Jim and Kay Mobbs have been at Bago since the 70’s and over the years have transformed what was once an old dairy bails and farm into the spectacular setting you see today. The first grapes on the property were planted in 1985 and with hard work, a love of the land and very supportive local community they haven’t looked back.
