2020 Vintage Grape Stomp Music Day

Join us in 2020 for Bago’s annual vintage grape stomp. A tradition now in its 22nd year. Relax and enjoy our monthly music, wander, run and get lost in Bago Maze and enter into the draw to participate in the annual Grape Stomp. In what started as a once only fun day has become an institution and popular addition to the monthly and long running Jazz in the Vineyards. Persons (in teams of two) wishing to participate simply enter the ‘lucky dip’ draw to contest the stomp.
Competitors in the 22nd Annual Bago Vineyards Grape Stomp will face an uphill battle challenging the current record of 7.2 litres. The dry conditions experienced over an extended period will test even the most experienced stomper. Stompers will only have 60 seconds to stomp 10kgs of grapes and then given a further 30 seconds to squeeze whatever juice remains.
On Sunday competitors will once again take to the half barrels and attempt to stomp as many litres from their allocated 10kgs of grapes with the winner having the most litres. Last year the winning pair stomped 5.5 litres a long way short of the record number of 7.2litres set a number of years ago.
Teams of two people must stomp the grapes for 60 seconds, then are given a further 30 seconds to wring the remaining juice from the grapes. The winner being the team that has the most juice.
Teams wishing to participate in the stomp must sign up on Sunday by 11.30am at the cellar door. The Media Stomp commences at 12Noon with the General Stomp immediately after the media Stomp.
If stomping grapes is not your thing, then sit back and relax to the sounds of the popular group ‘BK Blue’ on the Pergola. Bring along a picnic lunch or let our caterer XS Foods satisfy your appetite. Don’t forget the ever popular Bago Cheese platters will be available along with the Coffee Bar. The Cellar Door will be open for tastings and sales with along with the Chocolate Shop.
